Ratchanon Boongsrithong
Ratchanon Boongsrithong is a Thai artist and type designer with a lifelong passion for drawing and a fascination with typography. His journey began at KMUTT’s Communication Design program, where he discovered the interconnected world of design. Typography captivated him, leading to a Master’s in Type Design at ECAL in Switzerland, where he honed his skills in crafting typefaces.
For Ratchanon, type design is a process of thoughtful exploration. He relishes the deliberate pace of crafting typefaces, considering their cultural and aesthetic impacts. His current work on a multi-script project aims to bridge Western and Eastern design traditions, reflecting his commitment to cultural sensitivity and innovation in typography.
Ratchanon primarily works with font editors, focusing on type and typography, but his creative pursuits also extend to logotypes, lettering, and illustrations. He views type design as a pure and disciplined form of drawing, one that requires meticulous attention to balance and contrast. This approach reflects his lifelong passion for sketching and his belief in the power of visual storytelling.
